COURSE TITLE : ANIMAL PRODUCTION NC II
NOMINAL DURATION: 860 HRS (5 TO 8 MONTHS)
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to
enhance the knowledge, desirable attitudes and skills of animal production
technician in accordance with industry standards. It covers raising poultry, small and large ruminants
and swine. It also includes competencies in workplace communication,
teamwork, safety in the use of hand tools and equipment, and housekeeping The course is offered based on
the food availability information that
there are persons who have less healthy available food, low income/low
purchasing power and less educated than others.
There are farmers who have
remained marginalized though in the practice of agriculture for many years.
These farmers have raised hogs, cattle, chicken but unaware of the knowledge,
skills and attitude of a and educated farmer and less concerned with health and
wellness for themselves and others. Many of these farmers almost always incur
overdraft in feeds, antibiotics and food supplements.
This course is offered by
Action for Skills Knowledge Education and Wellness Center Corp. to provide
farmers with knowledge on substitutes in the absence of conventional farm
inputs and determine incomes based on inputs and expenditures.
It is in the best interest of
the farmer, the family and the community to acquire skills and knowledge in
determining proper useof farm inputs and develop substitutes for more economic
opportunities.
Health and wellness in line
with the thrust to develop organic agriculture is also provided ample time
during the conduct of the course.
It is important to note that
the course on Animal Production NC II defines breeds of chicken, swine, cattle
which are available in specific areas. For this course, the trainor and coordinators
identify breeds that are already adapted to the climate and land conditions
where the farmer resides and the animal is raised. It is important that the
farmer upgrades the stock gradually rather than infuse new breeds and stocks in
the area which may bring new micro-organisms which may disrupt the life cycle
of local breeds.
The training on basic and
common competencies is an important contribution of TESDA and its registered
programs to healthy life style and economic development.
In this course, a participant shall be
trained to learn from from the internet on the
intricacies of communication and farming methods in the common
competencies. The Action for Skills Knowledge Education and Wellness Center
Corp shall send emails and do cell phone calls to ensure that the basic and common competencies are fully understood and
explained by the trainee before doing the core competencies under a TESDA
certified trainor or expert or supervisor involved in the training.An institutional
assessment shall be conducted on different training venues that are directly
linked to the operations of the center. Accomplishment charts are forwarded to
the trainees directly through emails as per data in the accomplishment chart in
the center.
To achieve the level of performance of graduates,
a screening and selection process will be implemented prior to enrollment
process. The center shall also adopt the recognition of prior learning as a
benchmarking process for the conduct of the training
