It also includes competencies in workplace communication, teamwork, safety in the use of hand tools and equipment, and housekeeping  The course is offered based on the food availability information  that there are persons who have less healthy available food, low income/low purchasing power and less educated than others.

There are farmers who have remained marginalized though in the practice of agriculture for many years. These farmers have raised hogs, cattle, chicken but unaware of the knowledge, skills and attitude of a and educated farmer and less concerned with health and wellness for themselves and others. Many of these farmers almost always incur overdraft in feeds, antibiotics and food supplements.

This course is offered by Action for Skills Knowledge Education and Wellness Center Corp. to provide farmers with knowledge on substitutes in the absence of conventional farm inputs and determine incomes based on inputs and expenditures.

It is in the best interest of the farmer, the family and the community to acquire skills and knowledge in determining proper useof farm inputs and develop substitutes for more economic opportunities.

It is important to note that the course on Animal Production NC II defines breeds of chicken, swine, cattle which are available in specific areas. For this course, the trainor and coordinators identify breeds that are already adapted to the climate and land conditions where the farmer resides and the animal is raised. It is important that the farmer upgrades the stock gradually rather than infuse new breeds and stocks in the area which may bring new micro-organisms which may disrupt the life cycle of local breeds.

FACE TO FACE AND ON-LINE ASSISTANCE THROUGH CELL AND NET

METHODOLOGIES

·         Self-pace/Modular
·         Distance Learning
·         Peer Teaching / Mentoring

TESDA has defined quality training through various modes of instructions. The self-paced method provides a learner with ample time to define the individual's needs and in consideration with what is required at the most appropriate time. Self paced mode of instructions is an indication of  an adult-learning and experiential pattern of learning. The learner assumes responsibility in ensuring that skill, knowledge become part of the individual's education. Hence, it is expected that the skills and knowledge acquired through the blended program is applied.

Modules of instructions shall be available to the trainee on a case to case basis or based on the progress of a learner in the development of a farmer's behavior in taking care of the animals and ensuring proper growth and productivity.

Learners are assisted by designated community experts on specific growing or raising of chicken, hogs, goats and cattle.

PEER-LEARNING

An important aspect in the face to face and distance learning approach to training is the peer-learning method. In this system a learner is joined to a group of 3 or 4 co-students and shall respond individually to a situation. A learner's response is discussed together with the group and a decision shall be made to the implementing and evaluation procedures that the group or team shall apply.

Peer -learning is a helpful method in the preparation of a trainee in the negotiations for production and marketing of farm products. It is also important to consider the pricing and determining the costs of production in a group.

The training manual shall include animal production plan, organization plan, financial plan and marketing plan.
